Sensors

Sensors can be added into the solution via either the lighting control or the security system.

Adding sensors to your project and combined with programming logic can enable a very high degree of control and automation.

Types of sensors:
  • Movement Sensors
  • Reed Switches
  • Moisture Sensors
  • Temperature Sensors
  • Humidity or Vapor Sensors
  • PE beams

Movement Sensors

Use movement sensors to determine whether the home or room is occupied.  Combined with time of day logic determine the desired outcomes: a movement sensor activated between midnight and 5.00am might ramp bathroom lighting to 30% while the same sensor activated at 11.00pm might ramp the lights to 70%.

Movement sensors can be used to control energy useage by turning devices off after a set amount of time without movement.

Reed Switches

Reed switches placed on doors, gates, roller doors etc provide heightened levels of control.   A garage door open for more than 10 minutes can SMS the owner so they are notified they have left the door open.  A pool gate opening can be announced in the kitchen for peace of mind around small children.  A  are around.  aware the can give introduce a project music library for selection of music.

Moisture Sensors

To achieve an automated garden watering system, use moisture sensors for determining whether or not to irrigate. Helps save water by not watering unless there is a need for it.

Temperature Sensors

Increased control of rooms for airconditioning and or heating can be achieved with the use of temperature sensors. For instance, the floor heating timer that is set to turn on at 4.30pm might only do so if the temperature is below 18 degrees.

Temperature sensors are useful for control of :

  • Air conditioning
  • Heating
  • Pool heating
  • Floor heating
  • Towel rails

Humidity or Vapor Sensors

Humidity or Vapor sensors can be used in bathrooms, spas or other wet areas for controlling fans and vents. Also used extensively in wine cellars for keeping wine in optimum conditions.

PE Beams

PE Beams are useful because the system can detect whether or not the beam is or has been broken. We have projects that use PE Beams to direct cameras when the beam is broken. Can be combined wtih cameras and security system achieve a sophisticated solution.
