The Building Performance Engineer will be a key member of our growing Engineering Services team, working with our customers to drive the successful implementation and application of the Switch Smart Building Platform for their real estate portfolios.
  • Perform project and account management responsibilities to drive customer success
  • Provide feedback to the product team using your expertise to suggest meaningful improvements to the Switch Platform

Areas of responsibility

  • Integrate new buildings and building systems into the Switch Platform
  • Configure fault detection and performance optimization logic
  • Perform engineering analysis on building systems to identify and register performance issues and propose improvements
  • Conduct regular calls with clients and building site teams to drive action on performance optimization opportunities
  • Design and build visualizations to support customer programs and key impact metrics
  • Train new users and provide ongoing software support
  • Provide feedback to the Product Team using your platform expertise and exposure to client programs to suggest meaningful improvements to the Switch Platform
  • Practice ongoing learning of the smart-building landscape to understand Switch Automation’s differentiators and future development efforts that will support a competitive edge
  • Constantly update knowledge and learning of the industry, the competitive landscape, the Switch platform and all ancillary technologies through ongoing personal development
  • Learn and develop all technical and supporting systems used by the broader Switch team and specifically the Switch Customer Success Team
  • Foster and promote fellow team members by sharing information, education, learnings and introductions
  Key Performance Measures
  • Completion of project deliverables on time and according to customer expectations
  • Application of engineering skills to support the optimization of building operations
  • Work collaboratively internally and externally to ensure the integrity of analytics and the proposed solutions to performance issues


  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related applied science discipline
  • 1-2 years’ experience in a buildings-related consulting or engineering role with experience in building system design and/or analysis
  • Expertise with HVAC, building controls, system commissioning and/or energy optimization projects
  • Demonstrated drive for career progression and desire to move beyond traditional MEP-style engineering work
  • Clear, concise and engaging communication skills
  • Ability to master a new software product quickly
Preferred Skills
  • Experience with BMS / controls solutions for buildings and/or experience designing control sequences for building systems
  • Experience with IP network configuration and troubleshooting
  • Knowledge of enterprise utility management and sustainability reporting
  • Knowledge of commercial and/or corporate real estate and facility operations
  • Experience working in a small, agile company
