Role

The primary responsibility of the Technical Trainer is to develop, prepare, deliver and evaluate technical training programs for customers and partners as well as internal Switch teams; including but not limited to sales, marketing and engineering. Areas of responsibility

  • Work with the Switch leadership team to quickly establish and prioritize training needs
  • Develop a deep understanding of the Switch software and all the products, providing product feedback, in an effort to continuously meet customer needs
  • Learn and improve the internal processes used by the various Switch teams, providing feedback on efficacy and uptake
  • Gain internal buy-in for training program priorities
  • Understand customer and partner training requirements, including their technical competencies
  • Develop a range of technical training programs for customers and partners
  • Work effectively with internal teams for content creation in various mediums – in person training, online training, video and in-platform help
  • Incorporate various training products and methods to create training materials (course outlines, background material, instructional materials and training aids)
  • Assist the leadership in nurturing new hires (interns, graduates, professionals) to be supremely confident, skilled and valuable team members
  • Practice ongoing learning and development to learn about the Switch platform and the key competitive differentiators
  • Continuously enhance training materials, technical instructional delivery and presentation skills
  • Ensure the entire organization delivers the training program in accordance with the strategic vision
  • Manage the overall training program in accordance with business needs, customer deliverables and regulatory requirements
  • Meticulously manage all training information including customer company, contact and opportunity details in the company systems
  • Develop a deep understanding of smart building technologies and architectures in order to understand customer desired outcomes
  • Develop the competencies to make persuasive presentations, including demonstrations of the Switch Smart Building Platform, to prospective customers, partners and influencers
  • Constantly update knowledge and learning of the industry, the competitive landscape, the Switch platform and all ancillary technologies through ongoing personal development
  • Learn and develop all technical and supporting systems used by the broader Switch team and specifically the Switch sales team
  • Foster and promote fellow team members by sharing information, education, learnings and introductions

  • Provide accurate and timely forecasts and budgets
  • Timely recording of all training activities

Qualifications

  • Work effectively with sales, marketing, engineering and other colleagues to develop most relevant training
  • Be proficient with time management skills to prioritize training that helps the business achieve their goals
  • Clear and effective communication and organization skills both written and oral
  • Must have superb inter-personal skills and a genuine like for developing strong, positive relationships
  • Must be creative, persistent and organized to drive this program from scratch to an important self-sufficient division in the company
  • At least 2 years of experience in a previous training, business development or sales role
  • Experience in SaaS sales or the real estate industry is a plus
  • Proficiency in various software tools including Microsoft Office, CRM tool, marketing automation software (such as Salesforce, HubSpot, Marketo), email, technical software such as CAD or similar
  • Must be able to demonstrate an excellent adoption of new technologies
  • Must be able to grasp new and complicated technical information
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and must be proficient at conflict resolution
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret business goals into day-to-day work requirements
  • Ability to work in an unstructured environment, driving results without continuous supervision
  • Flexibility for an environment that is subject to change
  • Demonstrated drive for success and career progression, with a deep focus on quality
  • Keen interest in IoT, smart buildings/cities, and sustainability in buildings
  • Self-motivated and demonstrated interest in continuous learning and self-improvement – in all aspects of life – professional, personal relationships, health and fitness, learning and skills
